Strauss Brands Announces New Partnership and Closing of Franklin Production Facility
Franklin, Wisconsin – June 4, 2024 – Strauss Brands is announcing that it plans to relocate production of its grass-fed beef product line to Mundelein, Illinois-based Ruprecht, a division of Kilcoy Global Foods. Strauss is a third-generation family company with a rich 86-year history.
The relocation of production will allow Strauss to leverage Ruprecht’s state-of-the-art processing facility in Mundelein, Illinois, which continues to be upgraded with the latest advancements in technology and food safety.
“Along with the Eddy Foods partnership, this move represents a necessary step in growing our grass-fed beef product line,” remarked Dave Wiggins, CEO of Strauss Brands, “The decision to relocate production to Ruprecht was made after a meticulous evaluation of various options, with a paramount focus on ensuring continued quality and seamless customer service.”
The move follows the divestiture of the company’s veal and lamb product lines last fall to Catelli Brothers Family of Foods, a U.S. subsidiary of Canadian-based Preval AG, in order to focus exclusively on grass-fed beef. Strauss has also established a partnership with Texas-based Eddy Foods to expand its grass-fed product line to include value- added, ready-to-eat products.
Recognizing the significance of this transition, Strauss Brands is fully committed to supporting and assisting all affected employees throughout the process. “Our employees are the heartbeat of our organization, and their unwavering dedication and commitment have been the cornerstone of our success. We are forever grateful,” stated Mr. Wiggins. “As we embark on this new chapter, we are steadfast in our commitment to ensuring a seamless transition for our valued team members.”
